Texas driver Erb Nabs scored his first career bull ring win in the Showdown at Senoia Checkers on Saturday night. Nabs took the lead from Jake Knowles on lap 28 and held off a hard charging Knowles over the last several laps for the win.

Nabs, who hails from McKinney, Texas, started the night off well by qualifying fourth fastest out of the 26-car field. He then went on to win his heat race and move up to the second starting position in the feature.

Nabs got off to a good start in the feature and quickly moved up to third. He then passed both Cade Dillard and Jake Knowles on lap 28 and took the lead. Knowles was able to stay close and make a few runs at Nabs, but could not get by the Texan.

“I’m just so blessed,” Nabs said in victory lane. “I have to thank my family and friends for all their support throughout this journey. I also have to thank all the guys and gals that work on this car – they work hard to make sure I have a fast car every night.”

Nabs, who has been competing in dirt late model racing since 2012, has had a number of top-five finishes this season but had yet to break through for a win. He not only got his first win on Saturday night, but he got it in the most prestigious bull ring in the country.

“I’m so proud to get this win at Senoia,” Nabs said. “It’s such a historic track and it means a lot to get a win here. I’m just so thankful to be able to get this win and I’m looking forward to many more.”
